History
KNOPP NEUROSCIENCES INC. is named for the late Walter Knopp, a Pittsburgh area entrepreneur and ALS patient. His gifts supported pioneering work of Prof. Robert Bowser, associate professor of pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and director of the university’s Center for ALS Research and its ALS Tissue Bank.
Our founders, including Prof. Bowser and LaunchCyte LLC, named the company Knopp Neurosciences to honor and draw inspiration from the vision, service, and entrepreneurial passion of Mr. Knopp (1944-2004).
